Riverstone Wesleyan Church exists to help more people find and follow Jesus.

We are a growing church averaging 220+ on Sundays, located 20 miles south of Rochester in a region where many people are skeptical of organized religion but still spiritually searching. In recent years, we’ve seen steady growth, increasing baptisms, and a renewed hunger for biblical teaching and authentic community.

We believe God is inviting us into a deeper season of formation — especially for the next generation.

We are prayerfully seeking a Pastor of Youth & Formation who loves Jesus deeply, treasures Scripture, and is passionate about walking alongside students and adults as they grow in faith and serve as ambassadors of Jesus Christ in our region.

This is a relational role as much as it is a strategic one. We are looking for someone who enjoys building systems — but loves people even more.

Position Summary

The Pastor of Youth and Formation will:

● Shepherd and disciple students (grades 6–12) and young adults.

● Oversee and strengthen Riverstone’s churchwide discipleship pathway.

● Recruit and develop volunteer leaders.

● Cultivate innovative strategies for reaching the next generation in a post-Christian environment.

● Help position Riverstone to strengthen and support other congregations in our region.

This is a builder’s role. We are looking for someone who thrives in developing people, clarifying systems, and trying thoughtful new approaches to reach and form disciples.

Key Responsibilities

1. Youth & Young Adult Ministry (40%): Develop a this-generation ministry that forms resilient disciples capable of navigating and influencing a post-Christian world.

● Lead weekly student gatherings rooted in Scripture, prayer, and community.

● Build intentional relationships with students and young adults.

● Recruit, train, and shepherd a healthy volunteer team.

● Foster strong partnerships with parents.

● Create outreach environments that welcome students who are new to faith.

● Cultivate student leadership and baptism momentum.

The first 18–24 months will prioritize strengthening and scaling this ministry.

2. Discipleship Pathway (40%): Build a repeatable, scalable formation pathway that deepens faith and develops leaders.

● Oversee and refine Riverstone’s discipleship framework (Encounter, Equip, Engage).

● Strengthen community groups as places of biblical depth, prayer, accountability, and mission.

● Develop and coordinate short-term Equip classes and formation experiences.

● Recruit, train, and care for small group leaders.

● Strengthen pathways for new believers and those exploring faith.

● Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to ensure theological clarity and alignment with Riverstone’s Wesleyan identity.

3. Leadership Development & Regional Influence (15%)

● Identify and mentor emerging leaders within youth and adult ministries.

● Help create leadership development rhythms (cohorts, internships, mentoring).

● Equip volunteers for increasing responsibility and ministry ownership.

4. Ministry Oversight & Collaboration (5%)

● Participate in staff planning and church-wide communication.

● Occasionally preach or teach.

● Utilize administrative systems (Planning Center, Church Center, etc.).

● Provide pastoral care as part of the staff team.
