Discipleship

Making disciples that make disciples

The mission of the church has always been and will always to make disciples…

Matthew 4:19

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

Matthew 28:19-20

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Jesus not only commissioned His Church to make disciples but He also, through his life and ministry, left us a model for disciple making. Three main components of disciple making Jesus’ way are…
  • Entering into relationships with people to help them trust and follow Jesus (Discipleship.org)
  • More than imparting biblical knowledge, as important as that knowledge is, Jesus’ model for discipleship is obedience-based
  • Disciples reproducing by making disciples… “multiplication”
